Search? How about BP trends??

BP stock value is hitting the floor. A feeling for CEOs and such likened to that of the wildlife and marine life affected by the recent spill.

This is not the first time that the share price has plummeted though. Look back to Feb 2003:

BP and Pertamina in pipeline safety row.

Yet again, accused of negligence. It seems, some will never learn from mistakes!

PembsLocal.

A work in progress.
This is going to be a community site for Pembrokeshire and surrounding areas.
It will contain business listings, event calender, places to stay, eat & drink.
In time there will even be a local classified advertising section.
We're currently working on the business listings software implementation and are looking to launch the site within the next 6 weeks.
Take a look and please give us some feedback:

Google Backgrounds

Hmmm,
What do we prefer? A fast loading search engine or a slow one with goreish images?

What on earth are they thinking. Even though they have removed the image, there is still an option to 'Change Background' which evidently - does not work. I though that these were industry leaders. It looks more like a college project which has not been finished!!!

digilarb developing

We have recently launched our new website (www.digilarb.co.uk) and are pretty happy with how it looks and operates.  We would of course like some constructive feedback if anyone is willing...!

We're not cheap.

We are affordable.
While looking in to SEO etc I've noticed an increasing number of web design companies selling them selves off as cheap.  We have claimed the same in the past.  It has dawned on me that the statement is actually really negative.
It makes me think of the say - "buy cheap - get cheap" or "you get what you pay for", hence advertising as affordable.

While I'm on the subject of SEO...

As many will have noticed, Google have recently been updating the way that search results are found.
Because we are a new company, I have always liked the fact that when you search for 'digilarb' you would only get results based on our company.  You would always get the 'Did you mean digilab?' line, but I this was tolerable.
Now - however, when you search for 'digilarb' the top to listings are actually for 'digilab'!!!  You can imagine my frustration at Google for this.  It's almost as if they are unaware of the whole 'page-1-of-Google' mission.
Rant over...
   ...for now!

More storm warnings for the UK.

A little closer to home...

Here in the UK, flood warnings have been issued as storms are heading this way.
While the snow of last month is still thawing in some areas, new storm alerts are getting residents reaching for the sandbags.

"Two flood watches were in force in Scotland for the east coast from Peterhead to Berwick, and the Solway Firth from the Esk Estuary to Loch Ryan.
The storm could brush southern parts of the country as it makes its way to Scandinavia."

The death toll rises to 400.

The death toll from the huge Chile earthquake rose to 400 yesterday.

The earthquake has left roads buckled and bridges ripped to shreds. It is a daunting challenge for Sebastián Piñera, the billionaire who was elected Chile's president in January

Chili Earthquake

Another test of the world's strength again.  Feeling the wrath of the earth's nature with a seismic 8.8 quake put Australia on Tsunami watch.
It seems that the world will always be at war, with the earth itself.  When one nation is recovering from an horrific ordeal, another is thrown in to turmoil.

It seems that a tsunami has been triggered and the death count of 76 is going to rise.

A tsunami warning has been extended across 53 countries, including most of Central and South America and as far as Australia, Hawaii and Antarctica.

Our hearts go out to those lives lost, and faith to those in danger.

BAFTAs - done & dusted!

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards polished off again.

Good news for:

  • Red Carpet Manufacturers
  • Gold Figurine Makers
  • Dry Cleaners
  • Avatar non-fans !

What is Bloom Box?

"Bloom Box is a collection of fuel cells, which are skinny batteries which use oxygen and fuel to create electricity and that too with no emissions!" - Apparently.

Basically it's a new form of 'clean' energy.
We're all for clean energy. But how many times have we been promised this in the past?
Granted many forms of clean energy have taken off, our county stands testament to the fact, seeing many mills appearing throughout our many fields....

I personally hope that the installation cost is not so ridiculous that the concept becomes impractical.

Good luck bloom!!!

Fancy a Margarita

Today is National Margarita Day!

Best get those cocktail glasses out then, eh!?!
Basically, Tequila orange liqueur and lime juice.

Simple but stunning.

So, you may ask; When is Sex on the Beach Day???

Distracted by Pixels

I start to write about Photoshop then I get distracted by it.
While always trying to learn more, I am constantly review new tutorials and such.
Predominantly these day I am looking for hint on the integration of Photoshop and website design. The marriage of the two is most applicable to me these days.

One of the best articles I have found of late is at the following:

To the point.
Useful.
Stunning!

Good work all round really.

Happy Birthday Photoshop

How can we post any blogs without a mention to Photoshop. ..(?)
Many people will not fully appreciate the impact that PS Photoshop has has on the world, they may even be very disbelieving if you were to say it had.

The truth is though, that it has changed the way we look at the world (without us even knowing). The program itself has become a generic term for image manipulation, which has been used in one form or other through out the media. There are little (if any) print, or digital publications that have not touched Photoshop at some point in it's life.

I bare witness to this. From the day I had my first PC, I was enticed by the idea of manipulating photos. That curiosity turned to a hobby and then a profession. While I dabbled with other software (that in all honesty were not that bad), nothing could compare to PS.

This may start to sound like a sales pitch for Adobe, and it should be. It has saved my sanity (and pushed it to the limits) on many occasions.

Happy Birthday Photoshop!

Scotty Lago Scandal

Naughty naughty - It looks like Olympians are getting a taste of the tabloid media spotlight again.
It's probably reassuring for Scotty to know he's not the first to gain this king of attention - and certainly won't be the last.

Even super athletes are just human.

Another athlete in the 'news', becoming flesh-bared famous is JR Celski. While he is more expected to be showing some skin, it's his 'awesome' tattoo that is getting attention.

Who ever said that sport and art don't go together...?

RIP Lala Brown

Nearly three years after the death of the R'n'B star, the funeral has finally been held.

Welcome to Digilarb.co.uk

This is our first 'blog'. Our humble opinion on the world today.
